How to get hands-on experience as a dental assistant

By Remington College Posted April 3,2019

Right now, America is seeing strong job growth, with job gains averaging 241,000 from November 2018 to January 2019. Unemployment also remains low at 4 percent in January 2019.  Although many fields are expanding, healthcare growth in particular is strong, with an 18 percent uptick projected from 2016 to 2026. If you want to join the medical field, this could be the perfect time to do so. 1

One job that has seen rising numbers is dental assisting. Dental assistants are charged with a wide range of tasks, from providing patient care and taking x-rays to scheduling appointments and record keeping. Because the population is aging and research is linking oral health to general health, it's expected there will be an increasing demand for preventive dental services. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 19 percent from 2016 to 2026, which is much faster than the average for all occupations.1

If you're interested in becoming a dental assistant, you should consider applying for dental assistant classes at a technical school. While some states do not require dental assistant training, others do. By enrolling in an accredited dental assistant program, you can study the information and practice the skills you may need on the job.2

Remington College, a nonprofit college that is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (PG电子游戏), is proud to offer a dental assisting diploma at several of our campuses including:
